La Castellana hillclimb marks 60 years with 53rd edition in September

The La Castellana hillclimb near Orvieto, Italy, will celebrate six decades of competition with its 53rd running scheduled for 25–27 September. The event holds validity for the Italian Mountain Velocity Championship (north and south divisions) and is organised by the La Castellana Association, which has become synonymous with the Umbrian region and the historic hilltop city.

Registrations are open and will close on Monday, 21 September. The competitive course runs along the SR 79bis Orvietana between San Giorgio and Colonnetta di Prodo, spanning 6.19 km of asphalt with 308 metres of elevation gain and an average gradient of 4.69%. The timed runs will take place on Sunday, 27 September.

A public celebration of the event's 60-year history is scheduled for Saturday, 12 September at 18:00 at Palazzo dei Sette in Orvieto. The gathering will feature participants from the first 52 editions, local authorities, and notable guests including Andrea Cordovani, editor of Autosprint magazine. A journalist and historian of the event will recount the competition's evolution and significance to the region's automotive and cultural heritage.
