Magliona returns to hillclimb action at Pedavena Croce d'Aune

Nine-time Italian hillclimb champion Omar Magliona will make his comeback to competition this weekend at the 42nd Pedavena Croce d'Aune, a historic climb in the Veneto region that forms part of the Italian Mountain Velocity Championship (CIVM). The Sardinian driver, absent from racing for over a month, will tackle the event on 20 September piloting a Nova Proto NP03 powered by an Aprilia engine and prepared by Dalmazia Motorsport, competing in the sportscar category with motorcycle-derived engines.

Magliona has a strong record at Pedavena, having won the outright category twice previously in 2016 and 2018. This year's course is shorter than in those victories but remains technically demanding. The driver will experience the climb for the first time in the NP03, which will arrive at the circuit on Friday for technical scrutineering. Official practice runs are scheduled for Saturday from 09:00, comprising two timed ascents of the 4,404-metre course that climbs along the SP 473 from Via Trento to Pian D'Auna with an average gradient of 7.81 per cent.

Race day on Sunday 20 September begins at 09:00 with two competitive runs. Magliona's entry follows a mixed season so far: the team secured victory at the Trofeo Scarfiotti at Sarnano Sassotetto in August, but encountered difficulties at the Svolte di Popoli event, where the car underwent additional checks after completing only practice sessions. The driver expressed confidence ahead of the weekend, stating the team has work to complete with Dalmazia Motorsport but aims to perform well as preparation for the remainder of the season.
