43rd Coppa del Chianti hillclimb returns after three-year absence

The 43rd Coppa del Chianti, an eighth-round event in the Italian Historic Hillclimb Championship, will take place this weekend near Castellina in Chianti. Technical and sporting checks are scheduled for Friday 18 September from 12:30 to 19:30 at the service centre at the former Molino Niccolai facility, with an additional session on Saturday 19 from 08:00 to 09:30. A total of 132 competitors have entered the event.

The hillclimb is organised by Targa Racing Club in collaboration with Siena Racing Driver and supported by the Automobile Club Siena. The driver briefing will be held on Saturday at 12:15, followed by the first of two reconnaissance runs at 13:00 over the 8 km course along the SR 222 Chiantigiana road through the Chianti Classico region.

The Coppa del Chianti returns to competition after a three-year absence, with significant championship points available across all categories. Notable entries in the Sport Nazionale class include Alessandro Trentini (Milan) in a Lucchini SN87, Arnaldo Pinto (Piedmont) in a Lucchini SP90, Gaetano Palumbo (Syracuse) in a Lucchini Symbol, Antonio Lavieri (Basilicata) in a Lucchini SN88, and Angela Grasso in an Osella PA 10.
