Defending champions Degasperi and Muradore enter Cividale-Castelmonte hillclimb
The 49th edition of the Cividale-Castelmonte hillclimb in northeastern Italy will feature defending champions Diego Degasperi and Rino Muradore, competing 2–4 October in the Italian Mountain Speed Championship finale.
The defending champions of the Cividale-Castelmonte hillclimb have confirmed their entries for the 49th running of the event, scheduled for 2–4 October. Diego Degasperi, a four-time winner at Castelmonte from Trentino, will drive a Norma M20 GEA Zytek in the modern car category, while Rino Muradore, a six-time victor and local to Cividale, will pilot a Ford Escort RS1600 in the historic class. Both drivers will use the same machinery that carried them to victory last year, when they posted times of 6'15"44 and 7'46"97 respectively across the two runs.
The hillclimb will serve as the season finale of the Italian Mountain Speed Championship (CIVM) and will also count towards the Slovenian national championship, the Triveneto IRS Cup, and the historic car championship. The course runs from Carraria in Cividale to Castelmonte in the municipality of Prepotto, covering 6.395 kilometres with a vertical gain of 408 metres and an average gradient of 6.4 per cent.
Other notable entries include Michele Massaro from Padua, fastest in the historic category in 2021 and 2022, who will compete in a BMW M3 E30, and Enrico Zandonà, entered in a Wolf GB08 Thunder in the modern class. The event begins on Friday 2 October with technical and sporting checks, followed by free practice on Saturday 3 October. The race proper takes place on Sunday 4 October, split into two runs with combined times determining the final classification. Registrations remain open until Monday 28 September.
