Cassibba returns to Castellana Orvieto hillclimb

Samuele Cassibba, racing for Scuderia Ateneo, will line up for the 53rd Cronoscalata della Castellana Orvieto, one of Italy's most prestigious hillclimb events, taking place 25–27 September. The event marks the 60th anniversary of the historic Umbrian competition and counts towards both the Italian Mountain Speed Championship North and South divisions.

Cassibba arrives at Orvieto on the back of a podium finish at the Coppa Nissena, a result that validated the technical approach developed throughout the season with his Nova Proto NP01 V8. Last year at Castellana, the Ragusa-based driver secured third place overall, and he returns with renewed confidence to challenge for a strong result on the 6.19-kilometre S.R. 79 Bis Orvietana route between San Giorgio and Colonnetta di Prodo.

The hillclimb course is known among specialists for its varied character: rapid direction changes, flowing corners, technical sections, and numerous points where precision and commitment prove decisive. Cassibba described the track as one of the finest in the Italian calendar, emphasising the need to establish the correct rhythm early and maintain accuracy throughout the ascent using precise reference points.

Preliminary operations begin Friday, with two official practice runs scheduled for Saturday 26 September from 09:00. The two timed runs take place on Sunday 27 September at the same time. ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 228 and TivùSat 52) will broadcast the weekend, with live streaming of Sunday's races and social media coverage. Prize-giving will take place at the Colonnetta di Prodo closed park approximately 30 minutes after each group finishes.
