Lampert wins St. Agatha hillclimb in perfect autumn conditions

The 2026 St. Agatha hillclimb took place in ideal autumn weather, with sunshine and temperatures above 20°C drawing tens of thousands of fans to the nearly 3-kilometre high-speed course in the Hausruckviertel region. Organised by MSC Rottenegg, the event ran efficiently enough to conclude by 16:00, allowing the flower ceremony to take place before a packed grandstand.

Christoph Lampert, a driver from Vorarlberg, secured the overall victory with an outstanding performance in his Nova NP 01-2 C Honda Turbo run by Seb Petit Racing Team—the same car he had used the previous year. He laid the foundation for his win with an impressive time in the first run. Alexander Hin, a German veteran, finished second overall in his legendary Osella FA30 Zytek LRM, dipping well below the one-minute barrier. Third place went to Benjamin Noll, who piloted an Osella PA30 Zytek LRM and also broke the one-minute mark in the second run.

Vaclav Janik, a Czech driver returning after several years away, took fourth overall in his Norma M20FC Mugen, while Georg Lang from Germany rounded out the top five in his PRC FPR VW Turbo, also claiming victory in the Proto Class 2.

In the touring car category, Thomas Strasser from Tyrol won for the second consecutive year, piloting his VW Minichberger Corrado R Turbo and finishing sixth overall. Herbert Perwein from Salzburg took second in the touring car standings with his VW PR Golf 1 Turbo 4×4, while Czech driver Milan Langer completed the podium in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 7 RS. Bernhard Permetinger from Salzburg placed fourth in the touring car category, just 0.56 seconds behind after two timed runs in his BMW Z4 GT3.

Peter Probhardt from Upper Styria finished fifth in the touring car standings with his Mitsubishi Lancer WRC 05 Evo 3, despite a poor start in the first run. Thomas Nöst, also from Styria, claimed sixth place in the touring car category and won Class Pf 1 in his VW Polo 6 HCR, though his result was marred by a gearbox failure. Bergrallyelegende Rupert Schwaiger from Styria placed seventh overall in the touring cars with his Porsche 911 3.5 Bi-Turbo, securing the Austrian Bergpokal victory in Class Pf 1 despite vibration issues throughout the weekend.

Young Styrian driver Kerstin Taus finished eighth overall in her Subaru Impreza P4 Turbo, missing second place in Class Pf 1 by just 0.07 seconds. Heiko Fiausch from Upper Styria rounded out the top nine in his Opel Astra STW, taking second in the heavily contested Class Pf 3. A total of 197 drivers competed in the 2026 edition.
