Soft-body physics vehicle simulator BeamNG.drive is heading to consoles, with a release on PlayStation 5 scheduled for 19 October. Alongside the console debut, the PC version will receive a major content and technical update, version 0.40.

The headline addition across the update is local split-screen multiplayer supporting up to four participants. The feature will allow players to explore open-world maps together or tackle cooperative scenarios, including car football.

The vehicle roster expands with the addition of a modern European heavy-duty truck, the Cherrier Percheron. Powered by a 12.8-litre turbodiesel engine, the vehicle features interactive interior components and cabin compartments, as well as a hydrodynamic retarder capable of delivering up to 600 kW of braking power.

Visual rendering is also receiving a substantial upgrade. The PlayStation 5 Pro version is planned to incorporate PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), while PC users will gain access to upscaling via AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS. The development team plans to release the complete changelog closer to the scheduled launch date.
