Gran Turismo 7 Set for Major Spec IV Update Featuring Sportsland Sugo and Autumn Ring
Polyphony Digital has announced the Spec IV update for Gran Turismo 7, introducing Sportsland Sugo in October and a revamped Autumn Ring in December.
Polyphony Digital head Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed details regarding the long-term support and future content for Gran Turismo 7. Nearly five years after its initial release, the title continues to report strong sales figures and sustained player engagement, exceeding the studio's early projections. In response to this continued interest, the developers have prepared the fourth major expansion in the Spec series.
The first phase of the Spec IV update is scheduled to launch on 15 October, headlined by the addition of Japan's Sportsland Sugo circuit. Yamauchi noted that bringing the track into the simulator had been a long-standing goal, citing extensive testing he conducted there while developing the Nissan GT-R ahead of the 2012 Nürburgring 24 Hours.
The virtual iteration of Sugo has been built with precise detail, capturing the circuit's characteristic elevation changes and signature kerbs, alongside integration with the dynamic weather system and rain conditions.
The subsequent installment of the update package is slated for December, featuring the return of the classic fictional Autumn Ring layout. While the original corner sequence will remain intact, the overall scale of the venue has been redesigned to reflect an international-grade racing complex.
