Fanatec Unveils Project Obsidian Steering Wheel with 5-Inch Integrated Display
Fanatec has showcased Project Obsidian, a prototype steering wheel featuring an integrated 5-inch display planned for release in 2027.
Sim racing hardware manufacturer Fanatec has revealed a new prototype steering wheel dubbed Project Obsidian at the SimRacing Expo Frankfurt. The unit marks a milestone for the brand as its first wheel rim equipped with a built-in display.
The centerpiece of Project Obsidian is a 5-inch screen positioned beneath a large glass front panel. The hardware is designed to support both PC and PlayStation 5 platforms, alongside full compatibility with SimHub telemetry software.
Positioned in the company's mid-tier ClubSport hierarchy, the wheel will carry a matching price point upon its official launch, which is scheduled for 2027.
