RaceRoom Announces Major Historic Update 2026 With Overhauled Physics and New Content
The developers of RaceRoom have unveiled the Historic Update 2026, set to launch on 20 October featuring classic touring cars, historic tracks, OpenXR support, and substantial physics enhancements.
The developers of the racing simulator RaceRoom have revealed details regarding the upcoming Historic Update 2026, described as the platform's most extensive update to date. The official release of the expansion package is scheduled for 20 October.
The update introduces four classic racing vehicles to the title's car roster: the Peugeot 406 Super Touring and Ford Mondeo Super Touring from the golden era of touring car competition, accompanied by the compact Abarth 1000 TCR and Mini Cooper S Mk3. Alongside the machinery, the track catalogue expands with four new venues, including a 1995 layout of Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, a vintage version of Laguna Seca, Germany's Fliegerhorst Wunstorf airfield circuit, and the Glasbachrennen hillclimb route.
On the technical front, the platform undergoes a substantial infrastructure upgrade. The game transitions to a completely revamped user interface featuring native gamepad navigation, reduced loading times, integration of OpenXR for virtual reality devices, and multi-threaded processing for AI vehicle physics.
The vehicle dynamics model has also received significant attention. Updates include recalibrated force feedback (FFB), a re-engineered tyre contact patch model, newly calculated gyroscopic forces, and dedicated simulation of varying power steering systems. Further gameplay additions include manual rolling start procedures, an expanded driver statistics module, and an initial release of an in-game achievement system.
