Mirko Torsellini Secures Second Overall on Nova Proto Debut at Alghero-Scala Piccada
Italian hillclimb driver Mirko Torsellini finished second overall behind Simone Faggioli at the 64th Alghero-Scala Piccada during his competitive debut with the Nova Proto NP-01 Cs.
Italian driver Mirko Torsellini enjoyed a strong debut behind the wheel of the new Nova Proto NP-01 Cs at the 64th running of the Alghero-Scala Piccada hillclimb in Sardinia. Prepared and run by Faggioli Racing Team, the car carried the Best Lap driver to second place in the overall standings, finishing just behind multi-time champion Simone Faggioli.
Torsellini opened his weekend on the Sardinian climb by setting the third-fastest time in Race 1 with a run of 2:23.53. He found more pace in Race 2, lowering his benchmark to 2:22.42 to take second in the heat. That improvement solidified his second-place overall finish with an aggregate time across the two heats of 4:45.95, leading team-mate Franco Caruso onto the podium.
The event marked a rapid adaptation process for Torsellini, who had only conducted a single preparatory test with the car at the Modena circuit prior to the hillclimb. Despite noting that the new machine is more demanding and requires further fine-tuning to exploit its full potential, the consistent drop in times provided a strong baseline as he prepares for the 2027 season following his third-place overall finish in the 2026 Italian Super Salita championship.
