FX Racing Weekend at Mugello: Riccardo Tocu Secures Trofeo Predator’s Crown Ahead of Misano Finale
The penultimate round of the 2026 FX Racing Weekend at Mugello crowned its first season champion in the Trofeo Predator’s while setting up decisive title showdowns for Misano.
Held from 16 to 18 October, the Mugello Racing Weekend concluded as the penultimate meeting of the 2026 FX Racing Weekend campaign. The Tuscan circuit hosted a packed programme featuring eight distinct categories spanning GTs, single-seaters, touring cars, and silhouettes, highlighted by Riccardo Tocu clinching the championship crown in the Trofeo Predator’s with one event to spare.
In the Supersport GT division, Mirko Zanardini of Giust Preparazioni dominated both races behind the wheel of his Lamborghini Huracàn GT3. Zanardini claimed back-to-back outright wins ahead of the Ferrari 296 Challenge pairings of Marco Zanasi and Nela Novorytova (Zanasi Racing) and South American duo Benites and Bitar Benitez. Class silverware went to Pavlovic and Fischbaum in GTX, Zanasi and Novorytova in Class A, and Gioele and Matteo Pollini (Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO) in Class B. In the Ligier JS2 R Italian Trophy, Gabriel Moretto and Emanuele Romanelli won the opening encounter, while Luca Esposito and Manuel Quondamcarlo took honours in race two.
Single-seater action delivered intense championship battles across FX Pro Series, Trofeo Predator’s, and X-F3. In the FX Pro Series field of Tatuus T014 machinery, Giulio Luci edged defending champion Salvatore Liotti and Luca Casarin in race one, before Liotti rebounded to take race two ahead of Luci and Nicolò Colussi to protect his points lead. The Trofeo Predator’s title was decided in Tuscany: after a post-race five-second penalty dropped race-one winner Riccardo Tocu to second behind Andrea Zaniboni, Scuderia Cirelli's pole-sitter David Tonizza secured victory in the second heat. Tocu managed a calculated second place to lock down the overall 2026 championship. Meanwhile, Paraguayan driver Mateo Valente swept both X-F3 heats over pole-sitter Valentino Carofano.
Sprint and touring contests were equally hard-fought. Legend Cars staged a photo finish on Saturday where Gianluca Mussi beat standings leader Giorgio Basoli by just 0.005 seconds, with Leonardo Guerzoni only 0.043 seconds adrift. Guerzoni later won Sunday's second heat, while Basoli bounced back to win race three. In Mitjet Italia, GRT Motorsport's Pierandrea De Marco converted pole position into a double victory over Gianpaolo Orlandi and Alessandro Raimondi. Meteco Corse drivers swept ATCC overall honours, with Bodega winning the first race and Ferri the second in their Cupra Leon DSG. In the Mito Cup by Predator’s, Mauro Moriconi and Riccardo Garbin shared race victories.
The 2026 FX Racing Weekend concludes its season from 13 to 15 November at Misano World Circuit, where the remaining seven titles will be decided.
