Milestone Addresses Screamer Player Count and Ongoing Development Plans

Milestone game director Federico Cardini has addressed the modest player counts of Screamer, emphasizing that mainstream benchmarks do not define the racing title's trajectory.

Italian developer Milestone has addressed the modest concurrent player figures for its arcade racing project Screamer. According to data tracked by SteamDB, the game reached an all-time peak of 724 concurrent players on Steam, with the figure dropping to 54 active users in October.

Game director Federico Cardini explained that he does not view these statistics as a failure for the title. Cardini pointed out that blockbuster franchises like Forza and Gran Turismo represent rare exceptions with multi-million player reach, making direct comparisons unrealistic for most racing releases in the genre.

Since its launch, Screamer has received a series of gameplay updates. Milestone implemented steering wheel support, rebalanced mechanics, expanded in-game tutorials, and introduced a simplified single-stick control scheme. Inspired by the accessibility approach seen in Street Fighter 6, the new layout is intended to lower the barrier to entry for newcomers while preserving the primary dual-stick setup for players seeking maximum handling precision. The development team also confirmed that another unannounced feature is currently in preparation.
