Bigscreen Beyond 2 Introduces Base Station-Free Mode for Sim Racers

The Bigscreen Beyond 2 VR headset has added a new 3DoF mode, enabling sim racers to drive using a curved virtual screen without requiring external SteamVR base stations.

A new update for the Bigscreen Beyond 2 virtual reality headset brings a dedicated 3DoF (three degrees of freedom) mode aimed at racing simulation enthusiasts. This feature allows users to run racing titles directly without the need for external SteamVR tracking base stations.

With this functionality active, drivers can project their sim racing titles onto a curved virtual screen within the headset environment. The implementation streamlines hardware requirements for cockpit setups where full room-scale tracking and base station mounting are often unnecessary or difficult to position.

By simplifying the tracking setup, the mode provides a more accessible option for seated sim rigs while retaining the lightweight form factor and display quality of the headset.
