Grasso Racing Team scores mixed results at 61st Trofeo Fagioli hillclimb
The Grasso Racing Team fielded five drivers at the 61st Trofeo Fagioli, the Umbrian round of the Italian Hillclimb Championship, delivering four competitive performances alongside one retirement over the weekend. The 4,150-metre course at Gubbio tested both machinery and drivers in warm conditions.
Gianluca De Masi, an Umbrian driver piloting a Hyundai i30N in the TCR group, came close to the class lead in the opening run but was forced to retire during Sunday's second heat after a half-shaft failure. Antonio Cardone from Puglia achieved fifth place in the RS Plus 1.6 class aboard a Peugeot 106, fighting hard throughout the fast Gubbio layout.
Enrico Gabrielli, a young driver from Ascoli Piceno competing for MRNC 12 Racing Team, made his debut in the RS Cup category with a Seat Leon, demonstrating strong pace and adaptability against more experienced rivals despite multiple car changes this season. Teammate Maria Chiara Cuccioloni completed an important learning weekend on the Mini, trimming ten seconds across the four heats and posting times significantly faster than 2025 benchmarks, signalling steady progress.
Maurizio Fanetti rounded out the entry with a podium finish in his Citroën C1 RS Cup, continuing the team's "No Limit" project, which emphasises inclusivity and accessibility in motorsport.
