KUNOS Simulazioni and 505 Games have unveiled Free Roam, a new open-world feature in development for Assetto Corsa EVO. The mode recreates the Eifel region in Germany at 1:1 scale, including the legendary Nürburgring and its 20.8 km Nordschleife, alongside surrounding roads, villages, landmarks and points of interest.

Every road in the environment matches its real-world length and width, with corners, hairpins, junctions, bridges and elevation changes faithfully recreated. The simulation includes changeable weather, a full day and night cycle, and variable AI traffic based on local driving patterns. At launch, the playable area will encompass the Nordschleife, surrounding villages and connecting roads, with plans to expand to additional Eifel regions over time.

Free Roam supports both single-player and multiplayer modes. Players can explore at their own pace, compete in optional world events such as Time Attack challenges, or drive together with others in a shared environment. Marco Massarutto, co-founder and Executive Manager of KUNOS Simulazioni, described the project as one of the studio's most intense challenges, noting that the team has pushed its technology to deliver visual quality and scale beyond typical expectations for a studio of its size.

Free Roam will debut publicly at Sim Racing Expo in Frankfurt on 16–18 October 2026. Massarutto will present the feature on the main stage on Friday 16 October at 4:00 PM CEST, and attendees will be able to play it at dedicated stations on the show floor.
