Assetto Corsa Evo to Introduce Open-World Free Roam in December Update
Kunos Simulazioni has announced that Assetto Corsa Evo will receive an open-world free roam mode covering the Eifel region around the Nürburgring on 9 December 2026.
Kunos Simulazioni has scheduled a major early access update for Assetto Corsa Evo on 9 December 2026. Numbered update 0.10, the release will introduce the initial phase of the long-awaited free exploration mode, moving beyond closed circuits onto public roads surrounding the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany's Eifel region.
The development team aims to reproduce approximately 1,600 square kilometres of the territory surrounding the Nürburgring in a 1:1 scale. The open map will feature rural roads, villages, and off-asphalt sections, creating an expansive environment for free driving.
The mode will support both single-player and multiplayer sessions, allowing drivers to explore with friends, adjust time of day, and customise weather conditions. Players can also toggle AI-controlled road traffic on or off. Alongside vehicle operation, a walking mode will enable users to exit their cars on foot. The world will feature non-player characters, gas stations, tyre service points, car washes, and dynamic wildlife such as deer and cows.
Gameplay will also include point-to-point Time Attack challenges integrated with online leaderboards. Kunos noted that the initial release will offer a limited portion of the planned map, with further expansions following in subsequent updates. A preview build of the feature is being showcased at the SimRacing Expo in Frankfurt from 16 to 18 October.
