Clio Cup Bohemia Race 1 at Hungaroring: Tomáš Pekař secures lights-to-flag victory
Reigning champion Tomáš Pekař dominated the opening Clio Cup Bohemia race of the weekend at the Hungaroring, claiming maximum points from start to finish.
Reigning champion Tomáš Pekař converted a strong start into a commanding lights-to-flag victory during the opening Clio Cup Bohemia race at the Hungaroring. The Czech racer got off the line cleanly to edge out front-row starter Rafał Paprota into the opening meters, setting an unmatched pace to claim his third race win of the 2026 season.
Behind him, the battle for the podium positions took shape early. Oskar Marszałkowski made quick work of Matic Preša into turn one to climb to third, while Julian Śmiechowski also pressured Preša, finding a way past on the opening lap. While Paprota and Marszałkowski held the podium places, Preša was held up until lap four, when he finally cleared Śmiechowski and accelerated forward, ultimately overtaking Marszałkowski and crossing the finish line just 1.3 seconds behind Paprota.
However, a post-race 10-second penalty issued to Preša for a false start altered the final podium. The penalty elevated Marszałkowski back into third place, following a spirited second-half battle with his teammate Śmiechowski. Further back, Filip Dziwok and Dawid Babraj contested the lower top-ten spots, while Paweł Wysmyk completed the top-ten runners to secure a front-row grid spot for the reverse-grid second race.
Newly crowned series champion Bartłomiej Mirecki chose to sit out the season finale after already securing the title. The final race of the 2026 Clio Cup Bohemia season will take place on Sunday morning at 8:00 AM.
